i saw spring

for the first time

in the quaint hilltop villages

of italy

yet i could not see beyond

a world that filled

my heart

that translated

my heart

and all i could do

was watch the sun rise

with the rays of light

lighting on the trees

and waves of tall grass

rolling hills

flowers

and the evening faded in

only to cast the light

from the stars

on to the most lovely

world i had ever seen
